Government Relations 12/2/16

Date: December 2, 2016 Time: 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Event Description  Several proposals were presented in the 2016 Iowa Legislature to fund solutions addressing water quality. It is a complicated issue that involves all Iowans, and we are pleased to host Mayor Jon Kruse from Storm Lake, a recognized expert on water quality issues who will help us understand the issue.

Mayor Jon Kruse is serving his 17th year as mayor of Storm Lake, IA. As Mayor, a former city councilman, and volunteer, Mayor Kruse served on countless committees and boards dedicated to water quality and lake restoration efforts. In 2007 he was appointed to the Governor's Advisory Committee for Sustainable Funding, tasked with determining the unmet needs of soil and water conservation and outdoor recreation and recommending a sustainable and reliable funding source. Their work with the Legislature resulted in the Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund. Mayor Kruse is a member of the Iowa Water and Land Legacy Coalition (IWILL) and a statewide expert on water quality issues.
