Ribbon Cutting - Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center & Betty Strong Encounter Center

Date: June 10, 2022 Time: 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
Event Description Join us in celebration of their new animatronic exhibit, "York Comes to Life".

The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center will open its new exhibit "York Comes to Life." York, the enslaved servant of Captain William Clark, was a member of the Corps of Discovery Expedition, working side by side with the soldiers. He is credited in the Captain's journal as helping care for Sgt. Floyd during his illness and death. The exhibit has York relating his thoughts and feelings about his life and being on the expedition. The Center was able to fund the animatronic thanks to a grant from the State Historical Society of Iowa and MRHD.
