Why Small Businesses Succeed (and How They Fail)
Timm Funk & Linda Krei
Timm Funk Associates, LLC

Have you ever wondered why some small businesses succeed, while others struggle? Drawing from their decades of combined experience working with businesses large and small, Timm Funk and Linda Krei will share real world examples of small businesses gone wrong and common traits of successful businesses. In this highly interactive presentation, Timm and Linda will offer practical pointers for your small business and help you identify potential pitfalls before they become a problem.

About Timm Funk

Fifteen years ago, Timm Funk recognized a common trend among small business owners. Each wanted to grow their companies, but spent so much time managing HR, bookwork and accounting, they barely had time. He understood--especially from a financial aspect--that having a CFO on staff wasn't feasible, and yet smaller companies have the most to gain from having sound accounting and fully developed financial reporting practices.

It was then he created Timm Funk Associates, an interim CFO and business transition service. From here he could provide CFO services to businesses on an as-needed basis, which allowed them to keep their costs down while benefiting from his insight, data analytics, and financial reporting. Timm has facilitated business turnarounds and acquisitions, and has been appointed trustee for a multi-million dollar estate. He has served as an expert witness in litigation and also supports a large insurance company in resolving ‘business income loss’ claims.

Prior to going into business for himself, Timm worked for 20 years in the private and not-for-profit sectors in accounting and senior management roles. He is a graduate of Briar Cliff University and is originally from Moville, Iowa.
