This week our guest is Iowa State Representative Chuck Holz (R - Le Mars) who will talk about the 2017 legislative session so far and his priorities. 

Chuck Holz is serving his second term in the Iowa House.  He was elected by special election in November 2015.

Chuck grew up on a crop and livestock farm near Rippey, Iowa.  He graduated from East Greene Community School in Grand Junction, IA, and attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1976 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree.  From there, he moved to Le Mars, Iowa where he practiced mixed animal medicine for thirty-eight wonderful years.  In 2013, he sold his practice.

Chuck spent eighteen years on the Le Mars School Board, is a long time member of the Le Mars Rotary Club and a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ.  He, and his wife Pat, together have three sons; Joshua, Christopher and Daniel.  They also have three grandchildren.

Rep. Jim Carlin (R - Sioux City) will be our guest. Jim is a new legislator representing Morningside, Sgt. Bluff, and parts of Woodbury County. Jim will talk about key developments happening in the Iowa Legislature along with his priories. Join us to meet Rep. Jim Carlin!

About Rep. Jim Carlin:

Jim Carlin is serving his first term in the Iowa House.

Jim has been a resident of Sioux City and an attorney there for over 23 years.  He is a veteran of the United States Army.

Jim’s been involved with the Woodbury County Republican Central Committee, the Sioux City Men of Valor Bible Study, and the Morningside Assembly of God church.  He’s been a School Board member of Siouxland Community Christian School.  He’s volunteered as a nursing home visitation and also with Dismas Charities.  He was a part-time assistant coach for the Morningside College football team and a youth basketball coach of Upward Sports.  Jim’s a member of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the American Legion.

Jim and his wife, Donna, have been married for 20 years and together raised three children, Wesley, Whitney, and Hannah.  They are the proud grandparents of Bennett, Anne, and Clara.

Feb 17    Ribbon Cutting - Midwest Medical Transport Company

Feb 17    Ribbon Cutting - Gnarly Pepper
We will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for new member, Gnarly Pepper, to kick off their launch event at the Snug.  Gnarly Pepper creates custom spice blends that pair with ANY brand of non-fat plain greek yogurt!  Most blends are vegan friendly, so try them out with plain non-dairy yogurts including coconut yogurt!  Hope you can stop in, meet owner Sara Gotch, and taste her scrumptious dips - her own recipes!
