Come celebrate new member, Daga's Mexican Grill, at a Chamber  ribbon cutting ceremony followed by some tasty treats!  Tyson Sanchez and his culinary team offer authentic Jalisco inspired Mexican food with their "must try" signature item being the "Taco Queso".  Hope you can make the quick trip and stay for lunch!

About Rep. Hall

Representative Chris Hall is serving his fourth term in the Iowa House. Hall works as the Grants Coordinator at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, where he was born and raised. Hall graduated from North High School (Sioux City) as valedictorian and stayed in Iowa to receive his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College.

Hall serves as Ranking Member for the House Appropriations Committee and also serves on the Commerce and Agriculture committees. He has championed economic development issues in northwest Iowa, anti-bullying legislation, and has a strong record of bipartisanship.

Hall attends First Presbyterian Church in downtown Sioux City. He is a member of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Rotary Club, Tyrian Lodge, and Sioux City Growth Organization (young professionals). In 2011, he was nominated for the Ripple Award, recognizing young professionals that have made a positive impact in their community. One year later, Hall was awarded the Citizens Lifesaver Award by Sioux City Fire Rescue for actions that “potentially saved lives during a fire at an apartment complex.” In his free time, Chris enjoys cycling and volunteering for local reading programs and the Siouxland Soup Kitchen.

Mar 8    Ribbon Cutting - SHRM
We will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for Siouxland SHRM as they kick off a networking event open to HR Professionals, Business Owners, and Managers. The event will be held at the Galaxie Grill & Events Center and be followed by a party with pizza and pop with a cash bar available from 5:30 - 9:00 PM.  The Siouxland Chapter of SHRM serves the business community through education, networking and sharing best practices in people management. For more information click HERE

Mar 15    2017 Des Moines Legislative Day (41st)

Join us for a busy day of meetings with leaders in Iowa state government at the 41st Annual Des Moines Day trip. With the new Senate majority, new members of the legislature, and new agenda items on the table, this year's session will definitely be one to watch, and Des Moines Day is your chance to talk directly with the people making it happen.

Highlights for this year include:

  • Meeting with Gov. Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds
  • High-level interactive panel discussion on workforce, education, and economic development with Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds, IEDA Director Debi Durham, Iowa Workforce Development Director Beth Townsen, and Iowa Department of Education Director Ryan Wise.
  • Meetings with Speaker Upmeyer and majority & minority leaders from both the House and Senate.
  • Lunch program included.
Back by popular demand this year: we will be joined by high school student leaders in the Mayor's Youth Commission. Sen. Bill Anderson is our guest where he will talk about the session so far, the new dynamics in the Senate, and his priorities and agenda.

About Sen. Bill Anderson:

Senator Bill Anderson was born and raised in Sioux City. He is a graduate of Sioux City Public Schools, and is a veteran of the Army National Guard. He has served as a congressional aide to Senator Chuck Grassley and Congressman Steve King in their district offices.  Senator Anderson continues to serve on Congressman King’s staff as a policy advisor and as the military academy coordinator.

Senator Anderson and his wife, Angie, have a son and two daughters. The couple reside on acreage near Pierson, Iowa. They own and operate Anderson Professional Services, an accounting, bookkeeping and investment business in Sioux City.
