Feb 1    Government Relations 2/1/19
Georgia Van Gundy, Executive Director of the Iowa Business Council will be our featured guest. She will talk about the Iowa Business Council and the Council's priorities for the 2019 session. Georgia brings a wealth of experience to the table in her career in government and legislative matters, and we anticipate a great discussion.

As the Executive Director of Iowa Business Council she leads an organization comprised of CEO’s and top executives from the 23 largest employers in Iowa. The organization serves as a catalyst to elevate Iowa’s long term economic vitality through global thought leadership, research and advocacy. 

Georgia graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Finance. Prior to her position at the IBC, she led global strategies for a Fortune 250 company. She has over 18 years’ experience in the field of government relations and public affairs both in Iowa and nationally.  The early years of her career focused in the areas of banking and finance.  She is an Iowa native and has a passion for working to make Iowa a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Feb 1    Ribbon Cutting - McDonalds, 607 Lewis Boulevard
The McDonald's Restaurant at 607 Lewis Boulevard has been renovated and they are excited to show you the new look at their upcoming ribbon cutting.  Please join us for a peek and also learn about the newest technology available to make getting a great meal at McDonalds even easier!

Feb 5    Ground Breaking - Warrior Hotel
Mayor Bob Scott and representatives from the Siouxland Chamber joined forces with The Warrior hotel and Davidson Building renovators Amy and Amrit Gill of Restoration St. Louis at the official groundbreaking ceremony this morning. The ribbon-cutting, preceded by a brief ceremony inside, occurred in front of the main entrance to the hotel, at 6th and Nebraska.

 
As part of the celebratory renovation kick-off, the Gills are looking for photos and written recounts of treasured memories experienced by guests and locals at both locations as part of their $73 million restoration project. The 10-story art deco-style hotel and 6-story neighboring building will open in the fall of 2020 as the Warrior Hotel and Davidson Apartments under the Auspices of an Autograph Collection Hotels by Marriott, the first in Sioux City.

When completed, the Warrior Hotel will feature 148 guest rooms, 11 suites, 22 luxury apartments, a second-floor full-service restaurant, and a signature ballroom featuring a terrace. A luxurious spa and sauna, barbershop, and retail shop will be located at street level; basement amenities will include a large swimming pool, fitness center, bowling alley and lounge area. The Davidson Apartments will have an additional 56 rooms on the second through fourth floors, 20 luxury one- to two-bedroom apartments, two one-bedroom lofts, and street-level commercial space opening onto 6th and Pierce.
