| Oct 2 Ribbon Cutting - Siouxland Trails Foundation |
The Sioux City Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the completion of the I-29 Riverfront Trail Connection Project. The public is invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:00 a.m., October 2, 2021, at the Pedestrian Bridge at the Siouxland Expo Center parking lot (550 South Lafayette Street).
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, the Mayor’s Trail Ride will be held starting in the Expo Center parking lot. As part of the celebration, and in partnership with the Siouxland Trails Foundation, we will be hosting the Mayor’s Trail Ride. The family fun event will start at the Expo Center and travel along the riverfront trail to Riverside Park and back. There will be fun activities, food, games, and a bouncy house. We expect the event to conclude at 12:00 p.m. Below is information regarding the bike ride for those that are interested in participating:

Fee: $30 per family of 4 or more and $10 per person. Fess includes a wristband to enjoy attractions at all three locations.

The Siouxland/Washington Conference, held every Spring since 1954, provides a unique opportunity for Siouxland Chamber members and community leaders from the tri-state area to present regional issues of importance to our Congressional delegation. Due to COVID-19, our 2021 Siouxland/Washington Conference will be held VIRTUALLY via Zoom and WebEx on October 20 and 21. We are in the process of scheduling meetings with each of the six Senators representing Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, as well as the eight Representatives from the three states. Just as our in-person two-day schedule is packed with meetings around the Hill, we are also scheduling meetings with department representatives and other notable speakers. If you haven't been able to attend our Siouxland/Washington Conference in the past, this will be a great opportunity to experience the conference without the cost and time away from your business. This virtual conference is free of charge. Registration is required.
For your planning purposes a tentative schedule is listed below. Closer to the event date all registered attendees will receive the Zoom/WebEx information and conference materials which will include the final itinerary/meeting agenda, issue papers, etc.

In the Spring of 2021, construction began on a 2nd baseball field at the Miracle League, with Scheels and The Arena as major partners. A bocce ball court and a We-Go-Swing for children in wheelchairs will also be part of the additions. The Miracle League of Sioux City will be hosting Rush Hour Connect on October 21st to celebrate the progress. The event will start at 4:30pm with appetizers & drinks provided by The Arena. All are welcome to come see the progress and network with friends.
