Join us for the grand opening of Flux Dance Company and help us welcome them to the Siouxland Chamber!
Formerly Lincoln Elementary School, Flux Dance Company has renovated the building into Jensen Performing Arts Center. Flux Dance Company is Sioux City's non-competitive, non-profit contemporary dance company. Flux creates opportunities for Siouxland dancers to perform new choreography in current and emerging dance styles and prepare for professional level study and performance. The company trains with regionally and nationally known contemporary dance artists. The company provides concerts and performances throughout the year to enhance the entertainment opportunities in Siouxland.
Following the ribbon cutting, there will be an open house from 5:30-7:30pm.

Join us to celebrate St. Luke's Colleges' new Student Success Center!
St. Luke’s College was the recipient of Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) to assist in the preparation and prevention of Coronavirus, as well as respond to it. In 2020, when everything was shutting down and going virtual, our students expressed concern that they did not have access to reliable internet or technology. St. Luke’s College Administration made the decision to re-open its campus two weeks after it went to virtual learning so students could use the computer center and study areas. The previous library/computer center design was not conducive to social distancing and students could only use these areas during business hours at the College. Students wanted times they could come to campus during the evenings and weekends so they could study in a quiet setting. We believe these minor differences have allowed a safe environment for our students who can use the study areas and computer center 24/7.

Join us in welcoming the Siouxland Pickleball Association to the Siouxland Chamber (finally!) and help us celebrate their new renovations!
In 2020, the City of Sioux City renovated 5 underused tennis courts into 2 tennis courts and 8 pickleball courts at Riverside Park next to the public pool located at 1301 Riverside Blvd. These are the first dedicated courts for pickleball in the Siouxland area. The Siouxland Pickleball Association is grateful for the City's support of pickleball, and since that time the SPA subsequently applied for and received a generous grant from MRHD along with other financial support from businesses and individuals to purchase shade structures in the staging area between pickleball courts. Additional improvements include wind screens, a storage box for balls, paddles and other equipment, and 6 new picnic tables have been ordered and should arrive soon. With over 300 members and growing in less than 2 years, the SPA wants to continue partnering with the City and others to provide quality indoor and outdoor places to play pickleball for players of all ages in the Siouxland area. |
