Join us as we celebrate Siouxland Mental Health's new Child and Adolescent Center. A reception will follow the ribbon cutting.
SMHC purchased an 8,997-square-foot building (old Pier 1 Building) to create a child and adolescent mental health clinic. This building will serve children ages 3 to 18 to treat serious emotional disturbances (SED). This new facility will offer traditional evidence-based practices along with innovative promising practices. Based on several theories and research, SMHC believes every child has their own learning style, and the same could be said for how they respond to different therapy styles. Creating an atmosphere geared towards our youth's healing and growth is a core value for SMHC. With that value in mind, SMHC will be opening their 7th clinic which will be specifically geared toward children and adolescents. As the world is changing around our youth, the approaches to how a therapist can connect with them are too. At the new location, SMHC will have dedicated rooms for Virtual Reality Therapy, Parent Child-Interaction Therapy, Sensory Therapy, Art and Music Therapy, Sports Therapy, and Play Therapy.

The Sioux City Career Academy students now have more opportunities to gain construction trades experience before they leave high school. The opening of the new trades building provides a controlled environment for students to obtain hands-on skills in drywalling, roofing, plumbing, HVAC, and more. Students will build one house per year at the new trades building as part of the program.
Construction trades is just one of 30 career pathways offered through the Sioux City Career Academy. The Career Academy is available to students throughout Siouxland, including Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. |

Long Lines is proud to announce the new signage illuminating the Long Lines Auditorium and the downtown Sioux City Skyline. This new signage represents a refresh to the facility, Long Lines made a significant financial commitment to in 2004 as part of the Vision Iowa grant which funded the renovation of the former Sioux City Municipal Auditorium.
The Long Lines Auditorium provides recreational facilities for individuals and organizations in downtown Sioux City under the ownership of Sioux City Parks & Recreation. The Center has courts for open gym, soccer, basketball, volleyball, in-line hockey, dodge ball, wrestling, and special events. The Arena provides management of many of the sports tournaments held at the Long Lines Auditorium. |

Tony Gomez will have his autobiography available for sale and proceeds will go to St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. An open house will follow until 8:00pm. Gomez Pallets was founded in 1983 by Tony Gomez in his garage. He started with 15 pallets, a hammer and a small pile of nails. Over the last 40 years it has grown into a business that moves a half million pallets a year all over the tristate area. The business is now run by Tony's two sons, Samuel Gomez and Saul Gomez. |

In August of 2021, amid the tumultuous and chaotic withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan a retired Army Beret received a desperate plea for help from a former comrade.
As the government in Kabul collapsed, an American-trained Afghan special forces commando suddenly found himself exposed and targeted by the ruthless and resurgent Taliban terrorists.
Although he had separated from the Armed Forces a decade earlier, Lt. Col. Scott Mann knew that he had to rapidly reengage to save the life of his brother-in-arms.
Calling upon his network of military veterans, including Green Berets, SEALs, and other "special operations," Mann organized one last mission, and from this effort emerged "Operation Pineapple Express" and the riveting rescue and relocation of over 1,000 Afghani allies.
