On March 8 at 3 p.m., the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City will host a free community concert as part of the Cathedral Arts Series featuring a new arrangement of Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. This innovative version, created by internationally recognized cellist and pedagogue Emilio Colón, reimagines the iconic work for solo cello, cello quartet, double bass and harpsichord.
The performance marks a distinctive artistic collaboration between the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico and the American Cello Institute, uniting distinguished musicians from the United States, Puerto Rico, Germany and Taiwan. Together, the artists reflect a shared commitment to musical excellence and cross-cultural exchange.
The project also highlights a significant academic partnership among faculty and musicians from Indiana University, Oklahoma State University and the University of South Dakota, underscoring the educational and artistic depth of the collaboration.
Audiences will experience Vivaldi’s iconic masterpiece reimagined through the rich, expressive voice of the cello, offering a bold and fresh perspective on one of the most celebrated works in the classical repertoire. The concert is free and open to the public.
