Deep Dive into Social Media Presentation on Monday, September 23rd

The Siouxland Coalition Against Human Trafficking (SCAHT) is observing 5 years of helping area residents become more aware of the issue of human trafficking, how to report it and how to prevent it.  Over the past  five years the Coalition, an all volunteer group, provided resources,  given hundreds of presentations to groups and held conferences and trainings,  reaching an estimated 10,000 people.  An example of past collaboration  is our partnership with the Junior League of Siouxland to provide a hotel/motel training program in which  390 Siouxland hotel/motel staff people have been trained in what to look for and what to do if you suspect human trafficking.

On Monday, September 23, SCAHT and the Sioux City Human Rights Commission will co-sponsor a presentation by the Set Me Free Project called a Deep Dive into Social Media.  This presentation is for parents, especially, but mental health and social service providers and all concerned adults will benefit from the information.  It will help them examine various social media and gaming platforms that present dangers for children and teens, especially human trafficking lures.
The Deep Dive presentation is FREE and will be held at the Sioux City Public Museum from 6:00-8:30 Snacks will be provided and child care and translation services are available if you request them when you register.  To register, please call 279-6985 by September 16.
In April of 2020 SCAHT will sponsor a conference on the Porn Epidemic.  On April 25 there will be an evening session for the general public. On April 27 there will be presentations geared to people in the faith, law enforcement and social service communities.  Register at www.siouxlandagainsttrafficking.org
