Lots of Love Pet Care Celebrates 2nd Anniversary

Back in 2017, Judy Lewis of Dakota Dunes faced a stressful situation: who would walk her dogs while she recovered from hip surgery? “I have two Golden Retrievers, Bella and Beau and they love to walk,” said Lewis. “I thought ‘Oh they can’t go this long without walking’.”

Lewis inquired with friends, family and neighbors, looking for someone to do the task for her. A
referral from a neighbor led her to Lots of Love Pet Care, and an introductory meeting with its
owner, Emily Ross.

“Emily came out to meet me and the dogs and just right off the bat I could just tell she was a very sincere person I could trust. And they do a wonderful job. They’re so dependable and honest and reliable. They always send pictures every time they walk, so when you’re at work you can see a picture of your pets and you can tell they’re happy.”

This month, Lots of Love Pet Care is celebrating its 2nd anniversary. During the past two years, they have made over 5,000 visits to care for almost 400 pets. Lots of Love employees travel to the home of their customers and provide pet sitting, dog walking, and pet taxi services. Ross was the sole employee when the business opened. With a growing business she now has several employees to make sure each customer is taken care of.

“They really go the extra mile, they’ll bring in the mail, newspapers or packages, take the garbage to the curb,” said Lewis. “I’m so impressed with her and what she’s done for me and my dogs.”

Ross says that the business is focused on providing customers around Siouxland an alternative to boarding animals. “Kennels are great for some pets, but there are pets who don’t do well in that situation. In-home pet care can reduce the stress and keep your pet on their normal routine. Plus, we can check the house while we’re there.”

In addition to cats and dogs, Lots of Love has cared for all types of pets including birds, rabbits, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs and more. They can also administer medication and all employees are pet first aid and CPR certified.

Customers appreciate being able to entrust their pets to a reliable business focused on their well-being. The professionalism of the business has stood out to many, including Lewis.

“She wants to know everything possible that she needs to know about your dogs, what they like or don’t like or what scares them. And she also requests your vet information so if something happened while she’s taking care of them in an emergency situation. I thought it was very complete, and I was so automatically comfortable with knowing that I wanted to hire her and her company.”

Through the initial meet and greet, Lots of Love devises a customized plan for each customer. After that, Ross says flexibility is the key, and the goal is to make it as easy as possible to schedule visits.

“From the app, our clients can request and pay for our services, view their entire schedule, update their pet information, and view the updates we send to them,” said Ross.

Lewis was so happy with Lots of Love, she decided to continue using their services after she had recovered from her surgery. “It turned out to be so wonderful, I still wanted to keep using Lots of Love even after I was healed. I use them now at least 3 days a week. I also use them when I go out of town. My dogs are older now I think it’s more comfortable for them to be at home.”

When it comes to your pets, sometimes there’s no place like home.
