Mater Dei Parish in Sioux City, is excited to host a free early-access screening of the first episode of Season 6 of The Chosen, on Sunday, October 25, from 1:00 – 2:30 pm at the Church of the Nativity, 4241 Natalia Way, Sioux City.

According to the Come and See, the faith-based non-profit behind The Chosen, this marks the first time the organization has offered churches and communities the opportunity to participate in an early access event.

“The greatest act of love deserves the best we have to give,” added James Barnett, CEO of Come and See. “In Season 6 of The Chosen, we are bringing the Crucifixion to the world like it has never been seen before. Our team is witnessing radical generosity from individuals around the world who want to share Jesus with the world, and we feel incredibly blessed to share the same heart with our supporters.”

Parish Life Director, Deacon Jeff Schoep, the Come and See Foundation extended invitations to select churches across the country. He noted Mater Dei welcomed the opportunity because of the continued popularity of The Chosen and Jonathan Roumie, the Catholic actor best known for his portrayal of Jesus in the acclaimed series.
"With so many people following The Chosen, this seemed like a wonderful opportunity to gather our community and experience the beginning of Season 6 together," he said.

The screening will take place before Episodes 1-3 are released on Amazon Prime Video and other streaming platforms on November 15.

Following the 52-minute premiere episode, Mater Dei is honored to have Alice Mollett, an extra of Seasons 3, 4 and 5 of The Chosen from St. Peter Catholic Church, in Jefferson, South Dakota, speak. Alice stated, since being in The Chosen, “I used to read my Bible in black and white but now it’s in living color.” Alice will share her experiences on set, meeting Jonathan Roumie, and how the show has profoundly affected millions of people throughout the world.

"There is so much to reflect upon in this episode," said Deacon Jeff. "After hearing Alice's experiences and watching the premiere together, we want to provide an opportunity for people to process what they have seen, share their thoughts, and pray together."

He added, "Prayer plays a critical role as the disciples seek peace, understanding, and unity with one another. It seems fitting that we conclude our time together in prayer as we reflect on Christ's journey toward the Cross."
The event is open to individuals of all ages and faiths.

Organizers note Episode One depicts the events surrounding Jesus' arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane. While not graphic, the episode includes a brief moment of violence some viewers may find difficult to watch.
